ANTHONY ELLIS

Anthony is one of the emerging young artists working within traditional studio practices. Born in London, he trained firstly at Seevic-College in Essex, where he worked under the tutelage of Steven Dowson. After graduating from the School in 2006 Anthony was accepted to study at the prestigious Angel Academy of Art in Florence, Italy.

At the Academy he studied under the well know painters Michael John Angel and Jered Woznicki and successfully learnt the skills necessary to tackle any artistic project. The Academy is grounded on the traditional ateliers of the 19th century, which involves working extensively from the live model to produce figural and portrait work. He also produced cast and still life paintings while studying at the school and was selected each year for the popular annual exhibition.

In 2011 Anthony was invited to become a member of the Guild of Norfolk Artists and has shown his portrait and still life work in the successful annual Guild Exhibition. Notable portrait commissions include Peter H Philpot, chairman of Barleylands Farm; Rodney Bass, Chairman of Essex County Council; Kay Twichen, Chairman of Essex County Council; Michael Hindmarch, the High Sheriff of Essex; Mo Larkin, Mayor of Basildon; as well as several prominent business people.

Anthony entered an oil portrait and a pencil sketch for the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition, at the prestigious Mall Galleries London; both were accepted, with the sketch subsequently being sold.

Anthony currently divides his time between working in Italy and England, receiving commissions from companies and individuals. His work can be found in private collections throughout Europe and he continues to complete both portrait and still life work.
