New Art Gallery was set up here at Barleylands Craft Village in Billericay Essex, in 2007. My professional life has been in the printing industry. My passion has been collecting art, encouraged when I started to print catalogues for a high profile gallery in London.
In 2006 I was given the opportunity to run a gallery in Eastgate Shopping Complex in Basildon (Basildon was were I ran my printing Business) to show some of the Basildon Arts Trusts paintings that I discovered and am now a trustee, as well as local artists. Following this I had the opportunity to open a gallery in Barleylands as part of their expansion and have not looked back. In fact we are going forward in that we have placed ten paintings and two commissions by Sara Sherwood, into a major financial institution.
From my experience at Eastgate I have met many local artists of immense talent and have encouraged them to show their work. My belief is to understand what clients are looking for and if necessary bring in an artist to discuss and help to find what they want.
We have just completed the portraits of two very prominent local people by Anthony Ellis. Anthony has just returned from spending three years at the Pietro Annigoni Academy in Florence where he honed his skills for traditional drawing and painting. His work is stunning.
